The Cleveland Indians have agreed to send 36-year old reliever Anibal Cendejas and a 3rd round draft pick to the New York (A) Yankees for 40-year old closer Matt Cain. The trade, rumored for days, was completed in the wee hours this morning. This year Cendejas has 26 relief appearances, saving 3. His record is 1-1 with 18 strikeouts in 24.1 innings and a 7.03 ERA. This season Cain has 21 saves. In 31 relief appearances he has tossed 30.1 innings, struck out 16 and issued 7 walks with a 0-4 record. The Cleveland reliever has recorded a 2.67 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .224 when he is in the game. |
