Daniel Songer is respected by most Chicago (N) Cubs fans for his no-frills style of play. The 31-year-old catcher went about his business with vigor last week to grab the National League Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .458 average (11-24) with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
This season-to-date Songer has 24 home runs and a .281 batting average.

The season is finished for Loren Adams of the Chicago (N) Cubs. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Cubs starting pitcher suffered a damaged rotator cuff muscle while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Cincinnati Reds. Team doctors said it would take at least 8 weeks to heal.
In 2030 Adams has worked 206.2 innings with 133 strikeouts en route to a 14-8 record and 3.88 ERA.
