Happy times in Montreal as the Expos and star reliever Bill Hilliard put the finishing touches on a $5,130,000 contract extension that will keep the 32-year-old in town 3 years longer.
The signing is great news for Montreal because players of this caliber are hard to come by.
This year Hilliard has earned 32 saves, worked 62.2 innings, fanned 41 hitters and recorded a 4.16 ERA. He has also put up a 2-9 won-lost mark. |
 | Thursday, August 22nd, 2030: Expos Fowler Down with Injury
Dexter Fowler of the Montreal Expos was injured in today's game against New York (N) and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a fractured forearm and he is expected to be out for up to 4 weeks. It happened while Fowler was being hit by a pitch. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
This year Fowler is batting .235 with 25 home runs. He has scored 72 runs and driven in 84.

 | Wednesday, July 31st, 2030: Marlins-Expos Deal: Braunstein for Wieters
The rumor has been out there for a while now and today it was made official. The Florida Marlins have sent 35-year old catcher Alexander Braunstein and a 2nd round draft pick to the Montreal Expos for 28-year old catcher Matt Wieters.
Looking at his season stats, Braunstein has compiled a .165 batting average and a .261 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 9 runs.
So far this season Wieters is batting .237 with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 19 hits in 80 at-bats, 4 walks and a .299 OBP. Wieters has played in 43 games.
